Moonlight Adventure

The story of our travels on board Moonlight, our Vancouver 36.

History

'Moonlight' is hull number 8 out of only 11 Vancouver 36’s built. Designed by Tony Taylor and built by Northshore in Itchinor in 1994, it won the prestigious Silk Cut Nautical Design Award when it was first launched. Moonlight was originally built for the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst, and owned by them for 10 years. Numerous oversized and safety features were specified. Unlike other Vancouvers, the 36 is a long fin and skeg design, and although heavy displacement, is capable of fast as well as comfortable passages in all weather.

We have owned her for 4 years, and have spent the last 3 years sailing her to the Carribean, Bahamas and East Coast US.

Moonlight is Lloyds Part I registered.

  • Hull – dark blue with white boot-topping and navy blue anti-fouling
  • Coachroof – white
  • Decks – white with tan treadmark

In our opinion, the Vancouver 36 is the ideal long distance, liveboard cruising boat for 2 people with a double guest cabin.
